ABOUT THE PASTOR
Pastor Joe Pridgen is married to his wife of 43 years, Betty. He was saved on the Island of Crete, Greece, while in the U.S. Air Force. The first independent Fundamental Baptist Church that he attended was in San Angelo, TX, while assigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base. There he was the volunteer bus director and saw the Lord grow that ministry from one bus with 12 riders to 13 busses on 10 routes that averaged over 450 riders after four years. He and his family were then assigned to Hellenikon Air Base in Athens, Greece. Upon arrival, the Lord led him to establish a local fundamental Baptist church. The church grew to 95 members in three years. When reassigned to Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE., Joe, Betty and family served the Lord at Midwestern Baptist Church. Again, the Lord used Joe in a local church as director of the nursing home ministry. In January 1993, The Lord moved Joe and Betty to Oklahoma City, OK, where he was a teacher in a Bible College at a church and in the Christian school. He also was the Senior Saints director and established an assisted living facility ministry which the Lord blessed.
The Lord moved Joe and Betty to Conway, SC, the place of his birth, in October of 2013 where they established the Gospel Light Independent Baptist Church. Maranatha Baptist Church of Western Oaks in Bethany, OK, is their sending Church. The Lord is also using Friendship Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC, to help plant and grow this ministry.
The Pridgens have two children and 8 grandchildren. Their son James and his family have been missionaries through Baptist International Missions, INC, in Kampala, Uganda, East Africa, since November 1998. Their daughter Venus and her family are serving the Lord in an independent, fundamental Baptist church in Warner Robbins, GA.
